Information: MindKraft Summer Camp Programs 2020

MindKraft is offering both virtual and in-person camps during this summer.

We have three categories in our virtual camps:
– Learning to code using a visual block-based coding platform called Scratch, developed by MIT for kids (Age group: 6-12)
– Learning to code in Roblox which is one of the fastest growing computer game creation platforms (Age group: 9-13)
– Learning to code in JavaScript for kids who want to graduate from block-based to text-based coding (Age group: 8-14)

Our in-person camps provide a mix of learning Robotics and Scratch coding.

Registration is now open for all the camps in August.

In-Person STEM Camp: Robotics and Coding

A camp to inspire all the young builders and coders out there. The first half of the day will be dedicated to building and programming robots. Kids will use the MindKraft robotics and coding kits which take the pain and frustration out of building models, and leave the fun and excitement!

In the second half of the day, campers will dive into developing video games using Scratch. At the end of the week, each camper will have created 4-5 games that they can proudly show off and challenge their friends to beat them!

Age Group: 6-12

Location: Unit E-5, 1011 Upper Middle Road E, Oakville L6J 7J4

Virtual Camp: Intro to Coding – Build Games with Scratch

This is an exciting, hands-on, fun summer camp that introduces kids to the fascinating world of coding. Using the visual block-based coding platform called Scratch, campers will get familiar with coding concepts such as sequencing, loops, events, conditionals and variables. Using these concepts, they will build their own games such as a shooter game and a chasing game!

Age Groups: 6-8 and 8-12

All lessons in this virtual camp will be held online.

Virtual Camp: Game Design Courses with Roblox

In this summer camp, we’re offering an opportunity to learn Roblox through a bouquet of 3 courses on Roblox Studio, Lua programming and game design. The beginners can progressively move through the courses, whereas kids having enough prior experience in Roblox can directly enroll for the intermediate game designing courses. Across these 3 courses, campers will learn the basics of Roblox Studio, how to script using Lua and various aspects of Lua programming, design a customized obstacle course (Obby), and finally build a full-fledged Soccer Game.

Age Group: 9-13

All lessons in this virtual camp will be held online.

Virtual Camp: Intro to Text-based Coding with JavaScript

JavaScript is one of the core programming languages of the World Wide Web, popularly known as the Internet. In this camp, children who are comfortable with block-based coding will put their first footsteps into the world of real text-based coding in an exciting way. Over 5 days of the camp, they’ll learn about conditional programming, comparison operators, logical operators, looping, and object oriented programming concepts through application and games development. They will get familiar with all these coding concepts by working hands-on under the guidance of an expert JavaScript instructor.

Age Group: 8-14

All lessons in this virtual camp will be held online.
